Tailbone Pain: Images of x-rays, MRI, etc., of tailbone fractures, dislocations, etc.

Recently, a new group of images (x-rays, MRI, anatomic models, etc) have been added to the www.TailboneDoctor.com website, to show a variety of educational points related to tailbone pain (coccyx pain, coccydynia) including:

  • Tailbone fractures (fractured coccyx, "broken tailbone", chipped tailbone, "cracked tailbone")
  • Tailbone dislocations (dislocated coccyx)
  • Tailbone sprains (sprained coccyx)
  • Tailbone injuries from pregnancy (coccyx injuries while pregnant or from childbirth, labor and delivery)
  • Tailbone injuries from sports (skateboarding, skiing, snowboarding, roller skating, football, basketball, etc.).
  • Other tailbone injuries (other types of injury to the coccyx, injured tailbones, trauma to coccygeal bones, bruised coccyx)
  • Non-traumatic tailbone pain (coccyx pain, aching or discomfort that began without any trauma or injury at all)
  • Figuring out the causes of your tailbone pain (causes of a sore tailbone, painful coccyx, coccyx bone pain, tail bones that hurt)
  • Screening for other causes of symptoms of low back pain, buttock pain, pelvic pain, muscle pain, etc. (including screening for pilonidal cysts, coccyx cancer, sciatica, sacroiliac joint pain, lumbosacral facet pain, lumbar disc herniations, piriformis muscle pain, and other problems, etc.)
  • Tests for Tailbone Pain:
    • Tailbone x-rays (coccyx x-rays, including comparing x-rays while standing versus sitting)
    • Tailbone MRI (coccyx MRI, sacrum-pelvis MRI, pelvic MRI, lumbosacral MRI)
    • Tailbone CT scans (coccyx CT scans, sacrum-pelvis CT scans, pelvic CT scans)
  • Treatments for tailbone pain
    • Tailbone cushions (coccyx cushions: wedge cushions, donut cushions, doughnut cushions, other seat cushions, etc.)
    • Tailbone injections (coccyx injections, including using fluoroscopy to guide precisely placed steroid injections, ganglion Impar injections, coccyx nerve blocks, etc.)
    • Etc.
